About the Artist

Fahd Burki
b. 1981, Lahore, Pakistan / Lives and works in Lahore, Pakistan

Fahd Burki’s practice is primarily concerned with a vocabulary of symbols, forms and compositions that have, over the years, moved between non-representational and figurative. Without predefined ideas, his works are playfully crafted with lines, geometric forms, grids and blank spaces.

Burki graduated from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 2003 and received a Postgraduate Diploma from the Royal Academy of Arts, London in 2010.

His works have been exhibited at various international art fairs, galleries, and institutions including: SOCIAL CALLIGRAPHIES, Zachęta – National Gallery of Art, Warsaw, Poland – Curated by Magda Kardasz with Magdalena Komornicka / Gwangju Biennale, Gwangju, South Korea / Dhaka Art Summit, Dhaka, Bangladesh / GALLERYSKE, Bangalore, India / Carré D’Art, Nîmes, France / LISTE, Basel, Switzerland / Yallay space, Hong Kong / Artissima, Turin, Italy / Art Dubai, Dubai, UAE.

In 2014, a monograph of the artist’s work was published in association with Skira editore, Milan. He will be showing at Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art (GIBCA) opening on September 09, 2017 until November 19, 2017, curated by Nav Haq.
