Momentary structures and Five intervals
Fahd Burki
January 8 –February 10, 2018

We are pleased to announce the fifth solo presentation of Fahd Burki at Grey Noise, Dubai. This exhibition brings together two bodies of work, Momentary structures and Five intervals, by the Lahore based artist.

Momentary structures, a series of twelve small paintings on paper explores the idea of impermanence through the interaction of line and form. The works emerge as a synthesis of nature and architecture pared down to their basic elements. Composed intuitively without any preconceived ideas the work carries a sense of movement suggesting a state of transience.

In contrast, Five intervals, a series of works on canvas with chalky tones of grey and white are silent and restful. Reminiscent of stone tablets these works have weight, stillness and as the title suggests, suspension of activity. Moving towards pure abstraction, Burki extends the composition to the edge of the canvas, dividing planes of colour with solid stripes and delicate lines. Each work can be read as an interval, an untroubled moment.
